China Fourth in the table
Chongqing Dangdai Lifan have managed their best ever start to a season, under the guidance of coach Jordi Cruyff.
The Chinese Super League outfit earned 15 points from their opening nine matches, including four wins, one of which came over reigning champions Shanghai SIPG.
Their achievements are made even greater given that they have one of the most modest squads of the Chinese top division.
Cruyff took over in August 2018, when the team was in serious danger of relegation and ended up surviving the drop.
“Logically we are happy with this good start to the season in the Super League, especially for our fans, the coaching staff and our players, who are making a great effort to achieve the most against strong opponents.
“But the season is a marathon and there is still a long way to go.
“We will continue to work hard to meet our goals and ensure permanence.”
